Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy: What All Women Should Know

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy (PFPT) is a specialized therapy that works with the muscles and tissues that sit in the pelvis. These muscles play a key role in control of your bowel and bladder, support your pelvic organs, contribute to sexual health and assist with core stability in your body. PFPT works with several dysfunctions such as: Urinary or Fecal Incontinence (leakage), Pelvic Pain (including nerve, muscle, prostate or bladder pain, tailbone/hip/pelvic bone pain, pain with intercourse), Prolapse of your pelvic organs, Pregnancy/Postpartum care, GI conditions, and symptoms stemming from post-cancer treatment such as bladder, uterine, prostate or bowel cancer.

SPEAKER BIO

Colleen Bather, MPT, CCCE has over 26 years experience with Orthopedic/Sports Medicine Physical Therapy with 12 years specializing in Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy. She graduated with her Masters of PT from Duquesne University in 1997. She then received her CCCE from Cleveland State University. She opened her own Pelvic Floor PT private practice, Pelvic Align PT, in November 2021. Colleen has received advanced training in Pelvic floor PT for Women and Men including pregnancy and postpartum care, complex pelvic pain conditions and Bladder dysfunctions, GI conditions, pelvic organ prolapse/repair, and post cancer care.
