The Anatomy of a Fall: How Fixing the Body’s Foundation is the First Step to Fall Resilience

Following two years of lockdowns and social distancing, innovative exercise interventions are more important than ever before. Falls are serious and on the rise with older adults reporting less activity (1 of 3), impaired mobility (1 in 4) and more fear of falling (almost 1 of 2), according to a national survey (1).  Join us to explore the three stages of a fall as it relates to the body’s balance system. Discover why and how building joint mobility and stability at ankles and feet is the missing link to augment fall prevention programs while reducing pain and accelerating functional outcomes.

Objectives

  1. Examine the 3 stages of a fall to pinpoint and target physical factors safely and effectively.
  2. Discuss balance systems and the neurobiomechanical role of ankles and feet.
  3. Recognize how ankle mobility can lead to improving functional outcomes faster.
  4. Practice and employ safe and easy exercises that can restore strength and flexibility to ankles and feet, the body’s foundation.
